About Origin Counselling
Compassionate Care, Grounded in Connection
At Origin Counselling, we believe healing begins when you feel safe, heard, and understood. We provide trauma-informed, evidence-informed online counselling for adults, couples, parents, and neurodivergent individuals across Alberta, creating a supportive space where meaningful change can happen at your own pace.
Whether you’re navigating anxiety, burnout, trauma, relationship challenges, life transitions, parenting stress, or recovery following a motor vehicle accident, we’re here to meet you with compassion, curiosity, and care.

Trauma-Informed Counselling Alberta: Our Approach
Every Journey Has an Origin
Every person’s story is shaped by their experiences, relationships, strengths, and challenges. At Origin Counselling, we believe therapy should honour that story—not try to rewrite it.
Our practice was founded on the belief that healing happens through genuine connection, compassionate curiosity, and evidence-informed care. We understand that reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, which is why we strive to create a welcoming, non-judgmental environment where you can explore your experiences, build resilience, and move toward meaningful change.
Whether you’re facing anxiety, burnout, trauma, relationship challenges, neurodiversity, or a major life transition, you’ll find a space where your experiences are respected, and your goals guide the counselling process.
Currently, all new clients are welcomed by our founder, Alexandra Uhlman.

Alexandra Uhlman – (she/her)
BBP, MACP, CCC, RP (Qualifying)
Alexandra offers a calm, grounded, and supportive space where clients can feel safe, understood, and respected. She believes counselling is built on trust, collaboration, and genuine human connection, and works alongside each client to better understand their experiences while building practical tools for lasting change.
Her approach is relational, trauma-informed, client-centred, and evidence-informed. Rather than focusing on what’s “wrong,” Alexandra works with clients to recognize their strengths, better understand the patterns influencing their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, and develop strategies that align with their personal values and goals.
Alexandra works with adults, teens, couples, and families experiencing:
- Anxiety and chronic stress
- Burnout and emotional exhaustion
- Trauma and difficult life experiences
- Life transitions and identity changes
- Relationship and communication challenges
- Self-worth and personal growth
- Neurodiversity
- Parenting and supporting neurodivergent children
- Recovery following motor vehicle accidents
She has particular experience supporting neurodivergent individuals and their families, drawing on both her counselling background and previous work in Behavioural Psychology and Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).
Alexandra believes every person deserves compassionate care that respects their lived experience, autonomy, and unique path toward healing.

Frequently Asked Questions
We have a list of frequently asked questions to help you find the answers you need.
Neurodivergent-affirming therapy recognizes and honours that neurological differences—like autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other forms of neurodivergence—are natural variations in how people experience the world. Here, you are never asked to mask or change who you are. Instead, we focus on understanding your strengths, supporting the challenges you face, and helping you build an authentic, meaningful, and sustainable life. Our trauma-informed, person-centered approach ensures that your needs, values, and voice are always at the heart of your neurodiversity journey.
Counselling can be helpful if you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck, experiencing relationship challenges, navigating a life transition, or simply looking for support and personal growth. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from counselling.
The first session is a chance to talk about what’s bringing you in, ask questions, and see if we’re a good fit. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with.
A free 15-minute consultation is a no-obligation phone or virtual meeting where you can ask questions, discuss what you’re looking for, and determine whether Origin Counselling is the right fit for your needs before booking your first session.
Yes. Confidentiality is a fundamental part of the therapeutic relationship and is maintained in accordance with professional and legal standards. Any limits to confidentiality, such as situations involving risk of serious harm or legal obligations, will be clearly explained before counselling begins.
Many extended health benefit plans provide coverage for counselling services. Coverage varies by provider and individual plan, so we recommend checking directly with your insurance company to confirm your benefits before your appointment.
